Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 11, 2025
Overview
Safr is built with privacy at its core. We only collect the minimum information necessary for emergency functionality, and we never sell your data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
- Emergency contacts: Names and phone numbers you explicitly add in the app are stored locally on your device.
- Location (during an active emergency only): Your GPS location is accessed to send alerts to your trusted contacts.
- Basic app diagnostics: Anonymous, aggregated data may be used to improve reliability and performance.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide core emergency functionality and to improve the app. Specifically:
- Send SMS alerts to your emergency contacts with your current location.
- Provide ongoing location updates until an emergency is cancelled.
- Enhance reliability, safety, and performance of the app.
Location Data
Location access is only requested and used when you activate an emergency. Your live location is shared with your configured contacts through SMS and is not stored on our servers.
Data Storage and Security
- Emergency contacts are stored locally on your device.
- We do not store your real-time location on our servers.
- We use industry-standard security practices to protect any data we process.
Children’s Privacy
Safr is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Your Choices
- You can update or remove emergency contacts at any time.
- You can disable location permissions in your device settings (note: this will limit core functionality).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above when changes are made.
